Taking a little off the top....
Turns out the paypal takes a small percentage off your donations when you pay by credit card. It's not a huge amount but if it's not too much trouble, checks would probably be the better way to go. And remember - donations are tax deductible!

Starting out.....
I never keep New Year’s resolutions, so this year I made a resolution to actually keep a resolution. It was time to get off the couch and do something to make the world a better place! Nothing like starting with a small manageable goal!
Fortunately for me, the church that Keith and I attend (Christ's Church in Guilderland NY) sponsors an annual mission to trip to Tijuana Mexico. Each year, a dedicated group of people sacrifice spring break and vacation days to embark on a life-changing, cross-cultural experience south of the border. Throughout the week long trip, April 14th - April 20th, we plan to build two 11' x 22' houses for two Mexican families in need. To most of us such a small house seems insignificant or even silly, but for the families in need it is a fresh start at life and a better future for their children.
I know times are tough and everyone is in a different place financially, so I ask first for your prayers and support. This trip has been tugging at my heart strings and I know this is the direction and task God wants me to be on. If you have the ability, our group would greatly appreciate any and all financial contributions. The entire trip costs approximately $36,000 (my portion is $1300) with the majority of money going towards airfare, building materials, water and food supplies. It is our goal is take as little as possible from the already strained community and instead give of our labor, hard work, and compassion.
I have created a website (http://lorismexicotrip.blogspot.com) that accepts credit card donations or you can send a donation to my home: 6F Downing Square Guilderland, NY 12084. I will be more than happy to send a self-addressed stamped envelope...just say the word.
My goal is to post a weekly update on the website leading up to the trip. Then I will post pictures and stories of my travels when I return, so check back frequently.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and support!
Lori
